There is an island, which possesses a certain darkness, a silhouette that cannot be denied as being part of our contemporary psyche. This paradise, a self-desiring wonder-wasteland of our seemingly post ideological, post utopian capitalist era depicts us as we are. It proclaims our ideology. The realization that the island is as western history tells us; a confine, a prison, a land of shipwrecked undesirables and the last bastion of the raving mad, reveals the plastic nature of our own conception of our lived ‘paradise’ as a place of freedom, individuality and truth. It is only with such a realization that the ideology of non-ideology or our current permissive society as a whole can become clear. That is to say despite many of the freedoms we have been granted both political and personal the relationships of power remain the same our ideology is false.
